The Beginning of Collective Curl

First Pic of Collective Curl

First Pic of Collective Curl

This was the 1st day seeing what would later be Collective Curl.

I know what you're thinking...so roomy! Right?!?

You're about to see this old doctor clinic turn into a salon suite!

The work begins...

The work begins...

First things first...let's get the furniture and carpet (eww) outta here!

That tile though...

That tile though...

Once we got through the carpet adhesive enough to see the tile underneath we kind of fell in love with the vintage look of it.

Original flooring uncovered

Original flooring uncovered

Finally removed all of the carpet adhesive to see the original flooring!

The Pillar

The Pillar

These pillars are structural so they are seen throughout the entire building. At first I saw an obstacle, now I see an artistic opportunity...

Painting experiment

Painting experiment

We loved the original flooring but unfortunately couldn't get it to the best condition. So we are painting over it with black & white to give it the vintage barbershop flooring appeal.

Texture and Paint for wall

Texture and Paint for wall

I decided to let myself go crazy with this wall. It is to be the wall that will hold my mirror so, being that I'd be looking at that wall most of my working days, I wanted it to have endless details to keep it interesting. Seriously a fun project!

"Finished" ...for now

"Finished" ...for now

Here's the finished suite the day before official opening.

Shampoo area

Shampoo area

Here's the original shampoo area. We had many headaches and frustrations during this remodel, but looking back on it now, we learned a bunch and we rocked it given the amount of space we had to work with.

Here we go again!

Here we go again!

The suite next door to mine has come available. Now it's time to remove the separating wall to double my space! At this point I had been in business for 1 year.

The Crazy Wall

The Crazy Wall

Here is a great shot of the finished "Crazy Wall of Textures." In the first photo I had just started adding plaster marks, embedding designs and adding paintable wallpaper in shreds to give it an original look. After all that business, we decided on this metallic gold paint to finish the project off.

Remodel in full force!

Remodel in full force!

The separating wall is out! Now it's time for...well...IDK. Jonathon-my partner in crime-is the boss at this current juncture so I'm awaiting orders from him:)

The divide

The divide

Here's the original flooring making another appearance as we get the other suite ready.

Making progress...

Making progress...

Making progress and making a mess!

Here's Jonathon!

Here's Jonathon!

Working diligently on that wall removal.

The wall separating my suite and this suite

Here's the suite next door to mine. This wall is coming down soon.

Here it goes!

Here it goes!

Jonathon starts cutting the sheetrock out in sections...what am I doing? you ask. I'm hauling those sheets of sheetrock down 1 floor to the dumpster. Sheesh!

The other crazy wall

The other crazy wall

The wall of random. My suite is now double the size and ready for business once again!

So much more room!

So much more room!

After working in that tiny suite for a year I am so elated to have more space!

Still work to do

Still work to do

Always more work to do...
